Thai Basil

Whereas the European variety is bright green, Thai basil sprigs and leaves have a purple glow. The flavour is also very different. Thai basil, for instance, has a more aniseed-like flavour. You should therefore use it with caution when adding it to your dishes and recipes. You can use it among other things in soups, sauces and stir-fry dishes.
